As students approach graduation from high school, the world ahead can seem daunting ... especially for young people like James, who live with a developmental disability. A top priority for these students is learning life skills such as cooking, shopping, money management, use of public transport, and safety in the community. Through his public school system, James enrolled in a life skills program, while One Sky's Transition Service Coordinator worked closely with his school team to assure a smooth passage from school to adult services. "One Sky has provided an incredible amount of help," says James' mother Ellen. "They made a very difficult time in his life a little more do-able as he sees his peers going to college; this helps him to feel as if he hasn't been left behind; that he's moving forward."
